Finally Matt's Maze version 1.0 is ready for release and im excited to finally show of my game and I hope you enjoy it.
I’ve made many changes to Matts Maze since its game concept and below I will list them.
- There is no longer limited ammo as i and most of the players that tested it preferred unlimited ammo. Also, with the change of pace compared to the concept I decided to have a high fire rate.
2. There are also no more secondary weapons as with unlimited ammo there is no reason for a projectile that deals less damage.
3. There are no longer power ups only health pickups due to lack of time.
4. No comparison to Pacman anymore as the maze is more straightforward and you as always, the aggressor.
5. No Undead, Ghosts or possums as I couldn’t find any good sprites, so went with what I found which ended up being perfect.
Final Testing Session Feeback:
Q1: Did you find any game breaking bugs? If so, what?
Most of these answer were due to the unfinished state of the game, for example “well there is no health but we knew that :p I also went on an adventure outside of the level” and “getting stuck in place by enemies due to no health”, I hadn't implemented health or finished the map at that point so these make perfect sense.
There was one comment that found a bug i hadn’t come across yet which was “i could escape the map and there was a moment when I first tried where i was unable to spawn bottles”, this bug only happens in the starting area occasionally, and I haven’t found a fix for it unfortunately.
Q2. Was the game fun?
100% yes from testers which was good to hear
Q3. Do you have any suggestions for what I can add to improve the game?
I got many answers for this question which ill paste below.
"health mechanics”
“Add HP bar and limit the cooldown the amount of bottles that can be thrown”
“Shoot the bottle forward instead of behind”
“Sounds would be nice, and upscaling the player sprite will make your game feel more polished.”
“A Health bar”
“add some effect to you enemies and player and the bottle”
“different enemies. perhaps an animation or little colour blip when u hit an enemy.”
“some sort of dash or roll would be cool, but it's still fun without it”
Unfortunately I didn't get around to addressing all these areas but what I did do was, add a health bar, added audio and added some different enemies.
Q3. Was the game presented properly on itch.io?
Everyone said yes fortunately.
Q4. How hard where the enemies to avoid?
5 people said 2 out of 5, 2 said 4 out of 5 and 1 said 5 out of 5, the majority thought escaping enemies was on the easier side so i added more to increase the challenge.
Q5. Do you like the smashed bottle effect?
100% yes.

User Guide:
Gameplay:
Matts Maze is a very fast paced shooter, where you will be fighting every inch of your way through the maze. At every twist and turn there will be enemies waiting to end your life. After a huge night out the only defence you can find is the endless amount of empty bottles you found in your pockets, use these to destroy the enemies and make you way out of the maze.
Controls:
WASD to move
Mouse 1 to shoot
Hold Mouse 1 to rapid fire
