Devlog 2: Basic level blocking
This week in my production of Mats Maze I've started creating the maze and have found a sprite for my player game object. I got my player sprite from here: https://gibbongl.itch.io/8-directional-gameboy-character-template; and my walls and stone floors from here: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/2d/environments/pixel-art-top-down-basic-1...;. Both of these assets have been perfect for game and I'm very pleased with the results(Picture below). I still have plans to expand the maze and this week I will hopefully be adding enemies and colliders to walls. I also created my grass asset on here: https://www.pixilart.com/draw; which was easier than expected and was a good final result.
My plan at the moment is to add larger rooms at dead ends in the maze that will spawn multiple enemies for players to get points or players can choose to run if possible. I might implement an enemy that is the same speed as the player meaning you have to get rid of them so players can't just run from every encounter but not sure yet. I also need to implement the player shooting script from the tutorials so my player can attack.
The feedback I received was suggesting I expand the map and add some obstacles and decorations which I thought was fair, going to be trying to implement that over the next few weeks.
